Engineering
Services
PipingSolutions,
Inc. provides the following consulting services:
Piping Flexibility and Stress Analysis - This consulting
service consists of building a computer model of the piping
systems, connected rotating equipment and any other process
equipment connected to the piping system on TRIFLEX. To
this model, the static effects of temperature change, pressure,
weight (pipe, contents, insulation and concentrated loads),
the environment (wind, snow, ice, earthquake and shock),
pipe supports and restraints are applied. The support/restraint
system may include spring hangers, rigid supports, anchors,
soil resistance, line stops, guides, non-linear restraints
and hold down clamps. The results of all such effects are
then reviewed, evaluated and compared with allowable loads
set forth in industry standards as well as accepted piping
codes. Analyses can be processed to check compliance with
the following Piping Codes - ANSI/ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4,
B31.8, ASME Section 3, Class 2 & 3, U.S. Navy, Norwegian,
Swedish, Polish and Russian. In addition, rotating equipment
allowable loads can be verified when compared with NEMA
SM23, API Std. 617 and API Std. 610. In the event that the
effects of seismic loadings or fluid surge/hammer is required
to be considered, it can be accurately modeled, analyzed
and evaluated. An accurate analysis of each piping system,
including the support/restraint system, any connected equipment
and the conditions/effects to be considered, is critical
to the proper evaluation and operation of a piping system.
PipingSolutions's staff of Piping Stress Analysis Experts
have presented Basic and Advanced Level Training Seminars
on Static and Dynamic Piping Stress Analysis around the
world.
Rotating Equipment Noise And Vibration Studies -
The proper design of compressor installations requires that
a number of dynamic factors be evaluated. These dynamic
considerations must be satisfied to insure safe and efficient
operation of the compressor. A typical noise and vibration
study of a compressor installation will include some or
all of the following itemized components: Initial Field
Study, Torsional and Lateral Critical Speed Analysis, Dynamic
Foundation Analysis, Dynamic Piping Stability Analysis,
Piping Flexibility and Stress Analysis, System Noise Analysis
and Recommended Physical Changes, Piping Mechanical Analysis,
Impeller Modal Analysis, and Follow-up System Noise and
Vibration Field Survey and Final Documentation. See the
"Rotating Equipment Noise and Vibration Studies"
Bulletin for more details.
Flare Header Piping System Rating and Design - This
service consists of modeling an existing or new emergency
relief system including pressure relief valves and knock-out
drums on the TRI*HEADER computer program. The piping system
will then be evaluated by simulating a variety of blow down
or relieving cases. Flow problems will be identify and,
if requested, a variety of possible flow solutions can be
tested in the computer model to identify the optimum solution.
The TRI*HEADER software used by PipingSolutions has a well-tested
data base that is used to perform rigorous VLE, heat transfer
and two phase flow calculations in order to accurately predict
fluid behavior throughout the emergency relief system. Thermal
effects are taken into consideration and choked flow conditions
are identified and located. PipingSolutions can analyze
existing piping networks for problem areas or we can optimize
piping networks solving for minimum pipe sizes necessary
to meet flow requirements.
Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Rating and Design -
This service consists of modeling an existing or new shell
and tube heat exchanger on the TRI*THERM computer program.
Based upon your design/operating conditions, our staff can
design new exchangers or rate existing exchangers. The exchangers
that can be handled include 1.) Sensible heat - gas and
liquid, 2.) Horizontal, vertical or reflux condensers, 3.)
Flooded and thermosyphon reboilers, and 4.) Falling film
or forced circulation evaporators. Simultaneous change-of-phase
calculations on the tube side and shell side can be handled
as can multiple exchangers in series or in parallel. A detailed
report of our findings and recommendations is provided for
each exchanger rated or designed by PipingSolutions. The
report can include a TEMA Data Sheet as well as a zone by
zone definition of the physical properties, the heat curve,
the pressure drop and the heat transfer.
Air Cooled Heat Exchanger Rating and Design - This
service consists of modeling an existing or new air cooled
heat exchanger on the TRI*AC computer program. Based upon
your design/operating conditions, our staff can design new
air cooled exchangers or rate existing air cooled exchangers.
The exchangers that can be handled include 1.) Sensible
heat - gas and liquid as well as , 2.) Horizontal and rooftop
condensers. Simultaneous change-of-phase calculations can
be handled including superheating and subcooling. A detailed
report of our findings and recommendations is provided for
each exchanger rated or designed by PipingSolutions. The
report can include an API Standard 661 Data Sheet as well
as a zone by zone definition of the physical properties,
the condensing curve, the pressure drop and the heat transfer
for the fluid.
API 620 and 650 Tank Rating and Design - This service
consists of modeling an existing or new API tank on the
TRI*TANK620 computer program for designs or ratings in accordance
with API Standard 620 or on the TRI*TANK650
computer program for designs or ratings in accordance with
API Standard 650. Based upon your design/operating conditions,
our staff can design a new API storage tank or rate existing
API storage tank to these Standards. Or PipingSolutions's
staff can review the designs of fabricators or consultants
that have submitted them to you for approval and/or fabrication.
In addition, PipingSolutions can provide general arrangement
drawings suitable for submitting to fabricators in bid packages.
Nozzle Stress Analysis and Design - This service
consists of modeling a branch connection or a structural
attachment on a piping system, pressure vessel, heat exchanger
or tank. Our staff would utilize the applicable calculation
techniques set forth in the Welding Research Council Bulletins
No. 107 and/or No. 297. These WRC Bulletins are referenced
in the ASME Section VIII Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
A detailed report of our findings and recommendations is
provided for each nozzle stress calculation performed by
PipingSolutions.
